Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I remember that globe! It was a lot of fun! That whole day was amazing with everyone there. As for this picture, it's absolutely fantastic! I remember us all looking over that globe, looking at various landmarks and enjoying the warm day. that was one of the few sunny days, by the way! Perfect. This picture is amazing and it brings back so many memories! Super work as always!

I was dismayed at the total lack of identifiers in the southern hemisphere! They couldn't manage an elephant or a kangaroo? Victoria Falls? Ayers Rock? The Andes, for pity's sake? Aside from that, I loved the globe, and got ... (let me count) ... forty shots of it myself! LOL! I love this perspective, and you've really brought out the colors. Wonderful image!

LOL @ Tara... We as "Southerns" often find that many, many "Northerners" are very uninformed and ignorant of our existance down South. In this day and age we still have educated folks in the US asking my secondees if we have lions and elephants roaming the streets... And that is the truth!!! Anyway - wonderful image with great coloring! Perfect in every way! Well done Marilyn! :)

Great pic...think I've got everything identified with the exception of the second item from the bottom...over the southern part of Central America...sort of looks like part of a banana peel with a triangle on top:)

I LOVE the post work you did on this. I took a few of this but I was busy grabbing shots of you guys while you were preoccupied. Next time you're in Chicago, we hit the Shedd. I haven't been there since junior high, It was cool then and I bet it's cooler now! Awesome job!

I think that it is a cool idea and maybe they just need ideas and sponsors for additional icons. Great find and capture. Dana

Ah yes, I remember this rather curious globe, strangely devoid of most of the Southern Hemisphere and with all those odd " regional " doo-dads adding surface excitement. As I recall I was still trying to get my coffee mojo going and once again gasping at the monstrosity they turned neighbouring Soldier Field into when they grafted those awful flying saucer sky boxes on to the top of it. A very nice capture that nailed the perfect instant when the morning sun illuminated the thing on its rotation. Lovely!
