Hi All,
My name is Tracey and I live in Oxfordshire, England. I've been a keen photographer since I was able to prize my Dad's camera off him as a child, which wasn't easy IÂ can tell you, and the photos were rather blurred. If my memory serves me correctly he soon took it back! LOL
I've just invested in a digital SLR (heaven!) I had a compact digital camera but I always loved the memory of my old 35mm SLR. I'm having such fun with it, I hope you enjoy the photos I post from my learning curve!

What a great set of shots Tracey. I too used to play conkers at school and against my brother who always won! They are older and no doubt used their "force" to beat their little sister who was an easy target lol

Great shots! I see your leaves have that nasty leaf-miner that infested them all these last few years. Our trees look so sad going brown weeks early.

I recognize a chestnut, but have never heard of conkers, definitely going to have to check that out!! I love the wood grain look on them. SWEET!!

There is a website for Stow Longa, UK that shows the village conkers competition of 2005. It is under pictures at this site: http://www.stowlonga.org.uk/ These are lovely pictures, beautifully presented!

loved the conkers comp '05 pics, and yes it did hurt if they missed the conker and got your hand instead OUCH! Now if you were a sly conker player it's been said that you would take a conker home and varnish it first to make it stronger, I've never been the cheating kind so I couldn't say if it worked or not.
