Description

The 'Aremiti 5' is a Passenger Ferry that began to operate between Papeete and Moorea on 15 June 2004. The 'Aremiti 5' has the capacity to carry 700 passengers and 30 cars with axle loads up to 1.5 tons. A stern and port ramp allow vehicles to drive on/off. The ferry is a 56.6m (49.8m at the waterline) long catamaran that has a hull width of 14m and a draught of 1.9m. The 'Aremiti 5' has a crew of ten, including a three-person bridge team. The vessel is powered by four MTU 16V 4000 M70 diesel engines, each providing a maximum power output of 2,320kW at 2,000rpm. Each engine drives a Kamewa 71 SII waterjet through a Reintjes VLJ 930 gearbox. This gives it a speed of 35 knots (~40mph) at 90% Maximum Continuous Rating. The vessel is fitted with a Seastate motion control system consisting of T foils forward and variable interceptors aft. This picture shows the 'Aremiti 5' inside the Moorea lagoon approaching Vaiare. Great image.. I am sorry about commenting so late. I have been so busy trying to resolve a problem with Poser 8 in the forum. I have also had an overnight stay in hospital. Nothing serious, just testing.
