Description

I would feel hypocritical calling myself an 'artist'; I can't even draw a stick figure that a 3 year old would be proud of (which is why you never see me post a 'scene'). I am a technician. I like to take ordinary Bryce primitives and try to create an image that is compelling by my attempts at photo-realism. Most of my stuff anyone can do, (throw a few cubes or spheres around), I just focus on scale, lighting, and rendering. This is another re-do, because the 'technician' in me was not totally pleased with my first one.

The definition of 'artist' could be argued, and has been many times. Just because you don't have the technical 'skill' to draw an object does not mean you are less of an 'artist' - one's creativity can be expressed in any form, by any means and is equally 'art'. Each artist may have a slightly different set of 'technical' skills - some are better at drawing, some at lighting, some at getting the most out of whatever software to create their scene. Scale, lighting and rendering are all valuable artistic skills! Alot of 'artists' use high end applications now to create their art, and the use is quite 'technical' - so don't lessen what you do! It is equally valid. Sorry to ramble on:):) Great image by the way;) You do these kind of images superbly:)

lol...thanks. @IO4: Ramble on! I am sure there are people that look at my stuff and go "wow", because I push the limits of Bryce in some areas. Perhaps it is only natural that I look at others people stuff and go "oh wow, I wish I could do THAT!" RoHi is a perfect example of "scenes" i wish I could do. EngleWolf is not only a master of metaballs, but also of textures. (I could go on and on with the number of great artists there are here).

there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a 'technician' and it does not imply one cannot be an artist at the same time. this image is fine and interesting, i love it. (mayber i wold not have used a frame like this.
