I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

It does look very barren. Great capture though. :)

Wonderful shot!

What an endless mood... A rail track to any place and nowhere. Fabulous long view with emptiness to create a very strong mood.

Wonderful view--they seem to go on forever!!

Bella foto. Effettivamente da' l'idea che i binari vadano a finire nel nulla . Beautiful photos. Actually from the idea that the tracks are cramming into nothingness

Desolate indeed!

a very intersting picture! Great!!!

Love how the pebbles and tracks contrast with the dry dirt. Great texture and composition. Well done!

Wow, very desolate, looks quite sad.

Stellar clarity, colors, DOF and perspective depicted in this wonderful shot of the tracks, as they disappear into infinity, Carin! Are those tracks typical of South African engineering? As far as railroads are concerned here in the USA, there are wooden crossbeams between pairs of tracks.

What a powerful diagonal, great!!

It looks to be a long way to anywhere. Very dramatic capture.

This is fantastic! Really top notch! I just read the novel "Desolation Road" which is a brilliant novel...involving a railway (among other things) on Mars. For some reason, this shot really recalls that image! It's bleak and beautiful and yeah, those tracks seem to go on for ever and ever! Super perspective, and I love the dusty red color! It is very Martian in a way, which is great!
sandra46
superlative landscape (trackscape?)!!!!

I like this, Carin. Very effective lines of direction. I'm sure there must be wooden "ties" holding the rails together. They're just covered up with rock and sand. So, the feeling I get when viewing your photo is: "I'm thirsty!" :~)

great capture ..I like your choice of pov ..really brings it home!!
