One of my favorite things about living in the UK was the way history kept smacking me in the face everywhere I went. It's much tamer here. Lovely atmosphere, color and POV!

When I was in high school in New York I worked in a grocery store owned by an old Irishman by the name of John Thomas Carew. This has to be his ancestral home. Fascinating. The butcher's last name was Abrams and the owners chief assistant was Robert Murray. With the last name of McLaughlin I fit right in:-)
