Description

On Tuesday afternoons I go to my oil painting class. The instructor, Ahuva Shweiki (A professional artist in oil painting, and water color and probably more mediums I don't know about) has about 8 students per class. We get to work on our own projects (That's the part I love. I don't much care for painting something chosen by someone else.) and she goes around and works with us and is available if we have problems. I haven't had any formal training. Only a few classes where 20 people sit and all paint the same thing, chosen by the instructor. And there is a lot I don't know how to do. This is my current project and is my third painting since I joined her classes. I like detail and tend to choose very detail intensive paintings and then take forever to get them done. While I'm going to try to mostly do work from my own pictures, this is from a "free to share and make derivative works of" photo. I'm putting all the info on the picture and it's copyright status at the bottom. There will be a link there to the photo, which shows the massive amount of detail waiting for me when I get to her costume. This is REALLY good!! You say you are a beginner? No way! You are a natural. The modeling is very good and the eyes are near perfect. I took some drawing classes in college but could never get the eyes right.

Fantastic work, indeed! Is that supposed to be Ahuva in the painting? She looks so young. The lighting, composition, tones, hues, textures....all non pareil! But you a beginner in this media? If so, then you're a natural!

Lucinda it seems there is nothing you can't do as I fell in love with this beautiful painting the moment I laid eyes on it. Such lovely and soft colors throughout and those eyes tell the whole story. Speaking of stories I'd very much love to know your inspiration behind this one.
