Description

They were waiting for use as we disembarked. I was happy and a bit relieved to see Alverson. Not because I really thought he could stop whatever the Imperial Wolves had planned for me, but because it was comforting to have someone around I knew would be on my side. Then I looked at the other man waiting and my world shattered. My vision blurred again but instead of becoming kaleidoscopic it focused on a single slightly hazy image. Nick kneeling while the man in front of me put a blaster to the back of his head and blew his brains out. Inwardly I moaned, the pain I felt taking me by surprise. Sure, I'd almost come to like the taciturn wolf during our trip and he had been hell on wheels, odd expression that, in bed but the vision of his death seemed to hit me like partially nasty blow to the gut. My vision spun again, this time at least partially in shock. Before I could react the image reimposed itself upon me. Not hazy and blurry as the first time but starkly vivid. With every detail visible in unforgiving clarity. I could see the sweat tickling down the side of Nick's face. The fact that his jacket was smudged with some sort of grey dirt. The cold unforgiving expression on his executioner's face. The blood and bits of grey brain matter hitting the walls... This time I know I made an audible sound. Not a human one either. Rather the low feline yowling sound that was my foster family's way of expressing grief and anguish. I staggered backward and Nick caught me by the shoulders, his grip part suppose and part restraint. The vision disappeared as he touched me with a suddenness that did not help my spinning head one bit. Fighting down nausea, I looked at the man in front of me again. His expression seemed coldly amused. "And I haven't even asked you to take off your clothes yet..." ************************************************** Thanks to: Lalverson, RDNA, Sharkey, Wyrmmaster, quim2001, Poserworld, Kozaburo, Jim Burton, Anton Kisiel, and Davo

I'm really enjoying this series and the continual thickening of the plot. Keep it up, both of you :-)
