Description
September 27th, 1974. A warm afternoon, with a lazy warm breeze wards off the coming of winter outside of Hamilton, Ohio. I catch the Erie Lakawanna's #2501 as it runs at speed towards Cincinatti.
I've always loved Don Ball's photography, so I decided to take my own shot at immitating it even the commentary. The engine and bridge are free models... can't remember who did them though but thanks for the awesome models.

Great work!! I love the water under the bridge and the depth you put on the background.

that's great! it causes nostalgia - i grew up in a railroad town, richmond IN. we had C&O and Pennsylvania, water and bridges that looked just like this one, and i was a kid playing in said water looking up at said scenes very often! at the time i was an avid model railroader, to boot. wooo woooo! wooo wooo!

This is really great I did you do the water?
mboncher
The water is a very simple trick. I created a custom material to look like murky muddy water with algae in it. I then took a transparent foliage layer, changed the colors to look like fall leaves, and placed it .01 bu above the water layer. THis gave the impression of leaves floating on and in the water. Try different heights above and below the water for different effects. I think I'll have to figure out how to post these to the free stuff collection

Nicely done! Good to see a fellow rail buff here. You may be interested in the WIP (work in progress) I have posted at my website (www.rdimages.com/aa). Hope to see more rail renders!

mboncher, good job. Thank you for the tip on the water rendering. You can almost hear the sound of steel wheels rolling across that bridge.

I like this one a lot! The leaves floating on the water..., the slight blur of the train, the colors.
