Great idea and a good background to use. The model is fine but the problem i think is that both she and the newspaper appear to be floating on the background so I'm guessing they weren't all rendered together in one go. You need to add some shadows under the shoes and around the figure on the floor. Also, the lighting on the girl is from the front and the right - look at the highlights, yet the dominant light source in the scene is the lamp above her head. So, the lighting on her is basically wrong for the scene. Hope this is some help, because it's a great idea and an interesting scene.

For your first render you did a wonderful job, the composition is great and i love the idea. But i also agree with the explanation from Juqster about the lighting and shadow work, but you will learn from those informations. And i love to see more of your work in the future.

It is a great concept and you did a great job on the rain, especially for a first go. Critiques on shadows are correct and not difficult to fix with a bit of practice. One of the biggest deals is creative design and you have that.
