Description

In this image, I wanted to show the 2 sides of my personality, as a school teacher I have to put on a public face, a mild mannered polite politically correct individual. When ever I'm in public I put up this facade, even when I'm out of town because you never know when you may run into a student. This is represented by the natural forested upper environment. The sad truth is, I like punk music, violent movies and have some very strong political religious and world views that I have to keep in check, they could cost me my job if I express them in the workplace. (Yes even in America.) This represented by the bustling city below, that Being hurriedly covered up. I also have a third aspect to my personality, and thats as a father, I want to show my children both sides of the world, good and bad. I decided to use the wizard of OZ to symbolize this, a balance between the real ugly world and the imaginary pleasant world we all pretend exists. Look in the balloon and you'll see my interpretation of th OZ characters, even flying monkeys! Click the image for a full size view.

A thought provoking work; duality is part of us all- we are all very compartmentalized in our lives. Fine work with Vue as well.

I love your posts, it's always more that just an image. Like any good teacher, you make us stop and think. After all, it's all about the questions we ask. Fantastic image!

Politically Correct?! NO wonder this country is falling behind! It is also the reason why we've devolved into a nation of narcissists and hypocrites. The people who tout cough "political correctness" are the very same who don't like being questioned or criticized even if it is constructive. The sooner we as a nation and people get rid of this P.C.B.S, the better. What we really need is a thicker skin, as opposed to a thicker skull.

Quote - "The sad truth is, I like punk music, violent movies and have some very strong political religious and world views that I have to keep in check, they could cost me my job if I express them in the workplace. (Yes even in America.)" Your statement above is very interesting and is one further argument to confirm what I have been suspecting for some time. Although USA is well known for its liberty, my feeling is that this liberty has been falling behind the one of many other countries around the world, but namely Europe. In most countries of Europe, including my own, noone's job would be in risk for what you wrote. This is not even an issue, it's not even a risk. Same applies to nudity. I'm always amazed by what shocks americans regarding nudity. In Europe, we consider nudity a much more natural thing, it's all over the place, in a natural way, even in prime time TV ads. Here we have much more freedom even in this aspect. I do love your image and the symbolisms behind. Very well planned and put together. Good work!
