Masks are so strange, at least existentially. But aside from all of that, this is a wonderful image and a great exploration. Who are we beneath our masks, and why is it that our masks are more honest at times than our true selves? I ask this because I've been thinking of masks, lately, and how they're sometimes the opposite of what we think they are...this image really plays with that, and what I really like about it is the fact that in many ways, it reminds me of a Tarot card. One of the masks I've been forced to wear, recently, is the mask of a "non reader" which really sucks, because those who have forced this mask upon me, are those who have been unmasked as imbecilles and small petty people; it just so happens that they're biologically related to me...which kinda makes me wonder, what OTHER masks to they expect me to wear, and what masks have I rejected. Funny how a single image provokes these thoughts! That's what I like about your art though...you're so good at getting to the nitty-gritty stuff that art is so good at bringing up.
