Oh Juli, I am so old. I remember when this happened (1961?). There were a series of pictures that appeared in the paper and in Life Magazine. First he looked to see if anyone was watching him and then...over the wire to the West! The news reports noted that he took his rifle with him. Juli Oh, ich bin so alt. Ich erinnere mich, als dies geschah (1961). Es gab eine Reihe von Bildern, die in der Zeitung erschienen und im Life Magazine. Er sah zuerst zu sehen, wenn man ihn sah ... und dann über die Leitung in den Westen! Die Nachrichten darauf hingewiesen, dass er sein Gewehr mit sich führte.

Conrad Schumann was such an interesting guy. Sadly though, on the 20th June 1998, suffering from depression, he hanged himself in his orchard near the town of Kipfenberg in Oberbayern.
