Whenever I look at a foggy landscape it appears as though everything is being formed out of the fog. If you stand on the Big River Bridge south of Mendocino during a heavy fog you cannot see either end and you get the feeling of floating.
I wanted to alert everyone who visits to a one of a kind photo. It shows a Kingbird attacking a Red Tail Hawk. This is something you have got to see!

That's a beutiful scenic, Mark! Easily stock library material. I love the very very early morning when the world is a different realm entirely. If you want to portray that sweet light and atmosphere you have to get your a** out of bed. ;-) There are certain times in a day, late afternoon with its golden side light and, of course, sweet twilight, when vast possibilities open up for intrepid photog's which are just not to be had at other hours. Clearly you made the most of such a possibility on this morning! The Kingbird image is incredible. Now we know how he got his name! Terry

This is a wonderful and mysterious photo! there is something other-worldly about a fog bank that gives one th shivers sometimes. Thanks for the link: that shot of the Kingbird riding the back of the redtail hawk is just something else. I can see the sub-headline: "take me to 34th and main and make it snappy!"

This is amazing. I love fog. I'm in Chicago and we get fog, but not like this...I only experienced such glorious beauty once, and strangely enough it was on my birthday on the other side of the planet. This brings all of that back to me and I'm VERY glad I saw it. WOW.

This is so hushed and so intimate. That's the thing about fog and mist... it is a very intimate experience. I was just telling someone yesterday that I love standing at the mouth of Noyo Harbor, looking out between the levies where the fog horn and lights are...the vast ocean beyond. You can watch a boat slowly slide out of the harbor and just a few feet on the other side it will slowly fade from view until all you see is the mist on the horizon. The boat just stops existing like time eats it up. gorgeous view of this farm house. I've been to the Big River Bridge - not long ago. Here's another place you should visit... The logging trestle at Pudding Creek on North Main Street in Fort Bragg. They finally rebuilt this historic bridge and opened it to foot traffic.
