Description
Back in the mid-1970s, during my black and white period, you could often find me wandering the streets of Hollywood like a homeless man with a camera. One night I stumbled upon the movie premiere of something called ‘Girls Are for Loving’, starring Cheri Chaffaro.
Now Cheri was a New Jersey houswife who wanted to get into the movies. Fortunately for her, she was married to a man with money who thought this was a great idea. She made seven fairly awful soft core movies where she played the part of a private detective and spy and then pretty much disappeared.
She seemed very sweet when I talked to her at the premiere. I still have the autographed picture she gave me somewhere.

Nice POV and composition! Love the expressions and the blurred spectators in the back. I enjoy your B&W period. Hope to see lots more.

Ah, Great! I really enjoy it when you go back into the archives. You have such wonderful documentive work from a wildly photogenic period in US history. This is such a classic 'on-the-spot' image. & the expression on her face is priceless, coupled with the way she is leaning towards him, seemingly waiting for a decision on a dedication to the autograph. This really is valauble Hollywood history. The stature of her success does not matter, she belongs to the class which have always made up the Majority of Hollywood's story: the dreamers who come from everywhere on the chance for the rainbow's end and so often end under it. She's the real Hollywood story, and you've caught it so well within this moment. Thanks for bringing these and the other images into digital format and sharing, Mark! Terry

twice now, Tara has told me about your early photography, in the back pages of your gallery. And I think I commented one one---if I didn't, I meant to. When I step down from regular commenting, I'll come back here and comment on more of your earlier pieces; but for now, I chose this at random. This is fine "street photography," Mark. There's a slight tilt to the wall behind Cheri, which communicates spontaneity to me. It's also on her and the man she's talking to. And the different types of face, body, dress, etc, is striking. I also like the activity behind these two, as well as the blurred person in front of the two---lots of humanity (real street work). And the strong glittery light is just right for the subject material. You've been doing fine photographic work for a long time; and, like a true street photographer, you've walked the streets finding the shots. I'll be back for more, but I wanted you to know I've looked; and I'm grateful to Tara for telling me about this treasure trove...
