Description

Hi. Something of an interesting story behind these two pictures so here goes. Since 2004 I have had the great honour and privilege to be able to train on programmes either organised by or suppoted by America's space agency - NASA. In 2004 I trained at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida and since then at Huntsville in Alabama. During all this time I have gotten to meet, talk and train alongside some incredible people, astronauts, scientists, engineers and a host of others. At the very top of this list of incredible people is the man who led the team to design and build the Lunar Rover, the electric vehicle that travelled to the Moon and was used by the Apollo astronauts during the Apollo 15, 16 and 17 missions. At 90 plus years old, Doctor George Von Tiesenhausen is one of the most fantastic guys you can ever hope to meet. Each year he gives the trainees of my group his lecture on space and time and explains how the two should actually be considered as one. It is a lecture I have now heard four times and its a lecture I never get tired of hearing because when he starts to speak the entire briefing room his brought to life by his words. He has also in the past answered a whole host of questions on how the Lunar Rover was designed aand built for the Apollo missions. When I took up CGI as a hobby I decided to create a very special picture as my way of saying thank you to the good doctor for all the time and effort he takes each year to come along and speak to us. The top picture you see is the image I created, the bottom picture you see is me presenting the doctor with the signed image last year. I also created an additional copy of the picture which he signed for me and now has a proud place on my wall at home here in the UK. Early tomorrow morning I fly out once again to the USA for this years training stint so this will be my last submission until I get back. Bye for now, see you here once again.

Great picture and a fantastic tribute to a great man.He must have been impressed to sign his name to it.How much harder it must have been to design such things without todays computers. Have a great trip and catch you on your return.
