Description

This is the little zinnia that just won't give up for the year. It has survived three frosts now and is still going. They are from Mexico and generally like it hot and humid, but not this one. While the rest of my zinnias are already done for the year this one is persistent. I also have a small mum bush that is not doing as well, but it's still trying to beat out the zinnia. "Can't let a zinnia win, that's preposterous." We have had unseasonably cold weather already, which makes me not look forward to winter. We have pulled out the coats and heating season started about three weeks early. We didn't have much of a summer this year, perhaps that's where this little one learned it's perseverance from. I have been trying to get you some awesome Wisconsin fall colors, but the winds and the rains have been knocking the leaves down before they turn red. I am still being hopeful though. Update for those following : I just finished up the last of the paperwork today. Hopefully we can get the ball rolling again and just get it out now. I am way past ready. Thank you so much for all the prayers, lit candles, positive vibes, love and support. Thank you for letting me ramble on. If I am rambling on about another thing I don't have time to dwell, and that is such a good thing. Thank you for the comments and the favs on my previous posts. The biggest thank you I want to give is thank you for all being you. You know I love you all and this is such an incredible community! I would also like to take the opportunity to say a special Happy Anniversary to Havecancer and his wife Irena. Much peace and love, Cheri

This little flower has such a tenacity,...a stick to it, never give up attitude! Almost every other plant around here has pretty much just given up, summer's over and they're bracing themselves for our wonderful winter season.....already. The mums are barely holding on, some kind of flower competition going on in our yard for some reason. This one blossom really kind of reminds me of Cheri, so beautiful, and such a colorful personality, and it just keeps on keeping on, not giving up, not giving in, going above and beyond the ordinary...and never calling it quits! Maybe it's just watching her, and following Cheri's example. Finally moving forward in a positive direction sounds so good to me. After being mired in the muck of so much red tape and questionable ethics of certain professional people, the ball finally starts to roll forward again. At this point anything is better than that cesspool of a swamp we now have left behind! Happy Anniversary to havecancer and his beloved wife, they prove to all of the rest of us that a couple can face and overcome all challenges and obstacles together! And she really looks great in tight shorts too! I guess to understand that last remark, you'll need to go to his last post. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1958999&page=2&page=4 Of course while there you could wish them a Happy Anniversary yourself.

Just lovely, Cheri. Those Zinnias are pretty hardy and the mums can't deal with beetles. So, the race is on, I guess.

How fun, to have a zinnia still in bloom this late in the year. I've still got some alyssum, but it's not gotten very cold here yet, either. Still quite mild. Thanks for sharing this tenatious bit of beauty!

What a pretty little flower. Kind of a flower within a flower. Thanks for the warm Anniversary wish to Irena and me. She read the all with a big smile on her face. This has been out poorest Anniversary ever, but I know because of the people here at rendo it was one of the best. Irenas's face was covered in happy tears when she ot her gift and read all your wonderful comments...Thank you.
