Description

Recipe for Delayed Healing Start with one precocious and agile cat Add one routine spay operation Add one misunderstood instruction between Vet and Technician (i.e. no recovery collar) Mix thoroughly Return to vet Add one soft recovery collar Add 3 staples Add 2 daily doses of amoxicillin Mix thoroughly Return to vet Remove soft recovery collar Add hard recovery collar Remove staples Add 2 new staples Mix thoroughly Return to vet Remove dangling staples Add 2 daily administrations of Neosporin Shake head at unrepentant cat To Be Continued... (The vet told me she's never seen anything like this and sternly told Rotella it was not something to be proud of. I take her back next Monday to check and be sure she hasn't become infected. Hopefully the collar can come off then. The picture is of me assisting the little scamp with her evening meal, and was taken by my son, James. She can manage the dry food with some difficulty. I help her with the canned so she'll eat a bit more. She drinks water out of a large bowl by putting a substantial amount of the collar in the water. Inevitably she follows that by a trip to the litter box where she sniffs and inspects everything. So her trip to the box is followed by me towel wrapping her, and cleaning the hard collar. She also tries to nuzzle up to me so I get bopped in the face regularly. Ah, the joys being owned by a cat!) Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs!

Ha, great shot and humorous narrative. Although a dog rules here, I can sympathize with you seeing all one of my daughters and her husband go through with three cats and twin toddlers:-)

At least your cat is taking it in stride. With all the trips back and forth to the vet makes you want to scream. Wonderful capture. Yeah those collars are a pain, bumping into everything going where they could before.

Penso che non godono tanto con quel cono al collo , ma serve . I think not enjoy so much with that cone around his neck, but it serves.

I used to have a dog that was too stupid to realise it had the collar on. Would get running as fast as possible to get to something(food) and BAM! jam it right on a door jamb...so I can sympathise.

Oh poor thing. That collar can't be fun. I hope she heals soon. I don't know though, she is certainly getting the royal treatment, hand feeding, extra attention she may just try to stretch it out. :)

You read my mind, I was going to ask how Rotella was doing. This is not a happy cat. And the nuzzling? I think she's bonking you as her way of asking, 'How do you like it?'

Ah but you recognize you are owned and you do not own the cat. She looks like Momma when she was younger. I called Dave in and hey check this out. Poor baby Rotella. Give her a extra hug from me.

Stellar POV and clarity in this shot of the poor kitty, which looks in a high state of discontent, Lucinda. Not exactly the picture of dignity. Also, a stellar bit of whimsical narrative to go along with it all.

Good job you're there to keep an eye on her! Staples too - I know - ours has had a fight and lost fur and flesh - so she's got staples. But things are improving!

Sounds like my cat Natasha, who actually didn't get staples. She got some snazzy new procedure that worked rather well, but oh the indignity of a shaved belly! Actually there was not much in the indignity area, as I think she was more interested in climbing curtains than recovering from surgery. She climbed things more than any cat I ever had. As for this shot, I love it! Cats always look so serious when photographed from a particular angle! And for as serious as their expression might at that angle, they tend to also look hilarious! And yeah, this is a great shot and a familiar story!

They really lay the guilt trip on you during these times. That look on her face seems to be on of, "I'm so going to get you for this". Next night, at 3am, guess who simply springs onto your chest while you are blissfully asleep. "Oops, did I do that", she purrs. "Now feed me".
