I was born and raised in Italy and I work at graphics and advertising design. I started drawing comics with pencils, brushes and inks since I was a kid, taking inspiration from Roberto Raviola (aka Magnus) and Sergio Toppi, two of the greatest artists of all time, in my opinion.
In the following years I have engaged myself to create surreal landscapes using airbrush, enamel paint and various mixed media, until I bought an Apple computer and discovered software such as Bryce, Painter and Adobe Photoshop which are now, along with a Wacom tablet, my favorite tools to bring to life my ideas.
Fantasy and Sci-Fi are both my favorite genres. You'll probably notice that I'm a big fan of Myst-Riven saga. Actually, after the Internet there are many other sources of inspiration to look than was possible in previous years; There is a huge number of artists from which to draw ideas and learn to improve my work, but some people still inspire my work: Roger Dean, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, H.R. Giger, H.P. Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, to name a few. Hope you enjoy my work and come back soon.

I think the painted wood of the table would need a little more bump where the paint "peel" away but anyway, same comment as for your other image, this is an excellent work, and it's because of artists like you that I keep visiting the gallery of renderosity :) J-L

Great render! A very realistic piece with great textures and lighting. I agree with Abraham about adding some bump to the table though. This would fit perfectly in this months challenge. ...but i wouldnt drink what ever it is in that cup...

Fantastic atmosphere and textures, and very well crafted as well...

Masterly. Very good indeed. Ditto bump-map comments for the flaky paint, although this could probably be mitigated by lightening the underlying wood colour.

Davvero, Carlo: il tuo uso dei materiali "rovinati" sorprendente. Sul "bump" sono d'accordo fino a un certo punto, a meno che non si tratti di tracciare uno per uno i "riccioli" di vernice, ma sarebbe disumano... :)

Minimalist art, evocative. Simple objects, worn away from the time and a map that a probable travel indicates. The austere atmosphere is however warm, the harmonious colors. Is fantastic!

Dear Carlo, here it looks like you have carved a hole into a piece of stone and made the pieces all come out of the same stone. As the texture from the lines of the plans on the book to the lines on the table and on the mug and on the wall all make the piece to be 1. I love this. Also the title of this work is just perfect. Thank you. Nina
