Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Great work, I think you've captured the southern California beach ambiance superbly.

Love it too...the setting sun, ships out at sea, people walking past, waves along the shore, changing tide...most of my experience is on the east coast, but there's nothing better than a sandy beach...east or west.

When I lived down there I was only 2 blocks from the beach and every morning I took the dogs down and sat on the ice plant-covered hill above the sand. My brother-in-law surfed before heading to school and I'd stay until the sun got high in the sky. I was back on the hill over the sand by 5:30 each evening watching the surfers and other dog walkers. It was a great way to start and end the day. Great shot but it also reminds me that there really is not much privacy on those southern California beaches.

Is there any place MrsLubner hasn't lived or been? And thank you for not including me in your list of Southern California putdowns, at least not by name. Anyway, stellar silhouetting of the foreground and stratification of the waves in this nonpareil shot, Maz! And, finally got my ebots back to working order!

Would really be nice to be one of the lucky (or rich) few that can live near this type of environment...

It is so tragic that you have to put up with these sorts of sunsets — you need to come to Alberta!
