Description
ttlljj mentioned something about Indians, and it got me wanting to do some things. I started out with the idea of an Indian on a horse and a couple of dead Union soldiers laying on the ground. Great idea in my head, but I didn't have the civil war outfits like I thought I did. Guess I never got around to buying them after all.
So I settled for something bland instead.
Poser and Vue.

I love it when people explain how they went about making a picture. I learn a lot from those, but I'm always too lazy to mention anything about my own. So a note about the lighting: The figure was posed in Poser 7, and then imported to Vue 6 Pro Studio where I added the land, plants, and atmosphere. The original atmosphere was very, very thick and dusty yellow like a sandstorm. It looked really good, but it was too dark as it was lit from behind. So along with the sun light at coming from the back and pointing towards the camera, I added a point light just in front of the figure since he was so dark. With the Pro Studio version of Vue 6 you can tell a light to shine on whatever you want and exclude it from other things at the same time. So for this one I told the point light (I know, I know...I didn't "tell" it), to shine on the man and nothing else...particularly, don't shine on the ground. I wanted him lit up more but I wanted the ground to have the ambient lighting from the back via the sun. If I didn't do that I would have ended up with a bit of a spotlight on the ground. Once that was done I brought it into Photoshop. The character was still too dark so I duplicated the layer, changed the layer style to "Screen" (which really lightened it up) and then cut away everything but the figure. So in the end I had the background showing as it came out of the intial render and the figure a litle lighter with the "Screen" method in Photoshop. I made that a more complicated description that it needed to be.

Superb wow looks like a painting !!!

Good rendition of the Indian. But poor use of background, Plains indians did not live in the Desert.

Great artwork!

Right background, wrong title maybe. So we'll say this is a West Texas Concho Indian. Their territory stretched from the grasslands to the sandy hard scrabble land. There. Did I cover the mistake well enough? ;)
