A classic! Such an incredible mood and atmosphere; a distant planet, somewhere far, far away... The effect is most lovely, and captivating for the imagination. A story in my mind forms as I look at this... exquisite presentation and creativity!

I know that island...I'm sure I kayaked around it. Perfect water, perfect horizon. Perfect sky. Nah, can't be the island I visited, it had firs, not pines. Oh, perfect island. I love it.

I want to see the water move & and to hear the soft lapping of the tender waves against the side of the boat. Another of your works which I could set upon the wall and gaze into for time without measure. Twenty odd years ago I spent three days on an island no larger than the one in your vision, although with far fewer trees. This was down in the Marquesas Keys. A friend dropped me off with a cooler full of liquids a backpack of dry foods and a couple of notebooks. I was physically and emotionally burned out at just 22 and needed complete rest and isolation. That retreat, all alone in the world before the will of the elements, without phone or radio, was profoundly fulfilling and deeply healing. Your image is a touchstone for me to that experience .. as I did not even bring a camera with me .. as it would only connect me to my work, which I loathed at the time. This is twice this week that a friend's work here at Ren' has returned me vividly to that period in my life. Beautiful craft, Patty. Thank you! Terry
