Description

AlooooooHa~ Got up early to shoot some fog in volcano area which has a nice elevation for that sort of thing. It was nice and foggy when I got there....for about 2 minutes than it blew away!! I decided to take a trip to the National Park down the road, seeing as I was in the area. I got this shot over looking the steam vents on the crater rim. I was outside of the safety barricade, shooting across to Halemaumau smoking in the distance. Although it might look like there's really no drop at all, there's a pretty shear drop if you don't watch how you walk close to the edge. Fall is in the air and I can feel it getting cooler every night...Enjoy it everyone~ Aloha~

We already had our first snow a week ago - a couple weeks early for Colorado... Man, you love to take chances, aren't you afraid of soft earth, air pockets.... basically falling into quick Lava??? I love your pictures, but your life ain't worth the pictures - sorry, my parental part took over - but you know what i'm talk'n about mr, step outside the safety zone - lol

I'm not sure if this is where I walked when I was there in May, but I saw something very similar--and I remember that drop--yikes!! I love the misty look you got here.

I can see the drop...deceptive it is but I have seen similar places with similar cover on the edge. As soft as this scene seems to be, it is a place of fierceness. I can feel the earth simmering. It is allowing you to be here now, but it also lets you know it can change its mind any time it chooses. Stellar shot and a most beautiful place!

Your island is so alive and always growing, it's amazing to think of all the underground activity! Stunning image, with such depth! I could park myself here for the show, it seems to be a safe distance? beautifully done!!!!! Aloha... ;-)

Beautiful shot, Dave. If you're that close to the steam vents, I'm glad you were able to stay upwind. How long can you hold your breath? LOL
