I believe this is the cousin of the Turkey Vulture (or buzzard) and it is actually the Black Vulture (also called the American Black Vulture)common from the southeast down through Mexico into South America. Turkey buzzards have red heads. That is my best guess. :-) Its a great shot and you really got close. Be careful...they often will regurgitate and spit their undigested, smelly food in a panic when frieghtened or scared. LOL

Thanks MrsLubner for the corrections I know. Nice to know the facts on them. There was ten to fifteen of them munching away on this deer someone hit to the passenger side of my car. But as I pulled up most moved off this one was still really close. So I rolled down the window said hello and took it before moving on. Forgot I was in low res mode for the work I was doing at the time.
