My name is Clive, resident in Cape Town, South Africa. I am an amateur photographer who has been enjoying the medium in a more serious manner since 2003.
I took a trip to the UK armed with a Minolta Maxxum 7000 that I had inherited from my Dad.
Out of the holiday snaps, I managed to get a few that I felt were quite good, but had no idea of how I managed to get them 'right'.
Since then I have done a couple of courses in the darkroom and joined a local photographic society where I was on the committee for a while.
Hopefully I am getting it 'right' more often these days.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 7 and being tied into the lens system, the Sony A100 DSLR was my introduction to the digital world. This has recently been upgraded to the Alpha SLT-A55 and I have to admit that I have shot more digital in the last five years than film!
My daughter Kristen (Kris10) and son Sean (fotoSean) have accounts here too, in the hope that they will learn too and share my passion! Sadly they have been rather quiet of late, much like their dad...
August 2015 marks the end of my 3 years as coordinator for the Photographic section of Renderosity. What a wonderful time of my life that I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you all for the opportunity!
Keep the smile alive,
Clive

There's something arresting about this image. I looked at it in full view and stopped dead in my tracks! It's like a moment out of time ... Looking at it gives me the feeling that everything has stopped, there is no sound or movement, but that at any moment everything might start back up again. Perhaps we have intruded upon a private moment ...

I know exactly what Tara means! I wonder what goes through those small heads, and what they have seen.

Knowing birds as I do...food holds their interest. They are undoubtedly searching for where to go next for a bite of something to eat and I suppose in their case this has to be fish. Neat capture of three of your national birds.

I think that this shot works very well - the composition is excellent and, as Tara says, it is intrigueing, almost thought provoking and certainly captivating! Great work mate!

Beautiful birds they are - never saw one in the wild, just in a zoo.

Well Clive - you are one step ahead of me with capturing blue cranes in the wild!! They are just so shy. I think you did a great job getting even this image which I really like by the way!! :)
