UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Excellent shot! Have no idea what the holes is for, maybe to fill the ballast with water so the sub can submerge. :)

The best I can come up with is that it might be a guide for the anchor. Cheers, Clive

When I saw the expression on this creature and then read that it's a German, the words of Marlene Deitrichs song sprang in to my mind...."I can't 'ELP it"!
THROBBE

Love the work done on this pic, don't know all the technical terms. Looks huge. Wouldn't like to be under the sea in a sub!!!!

Excellently done Bill... Subs fascinate me... I don't think I would like to dive in one... but they are super cool! Love the postwork!! :)

a fine pov in this shot, Bill, and no never have been nose to nose with one of them, but I admit to have been playing silent hunter on a 688i..smile

superlative POV of the U-boat. Great postwork

Stellar POV and postwork on this Unterseeboot image, Bill! And I have no idea what the hole is for. Maybe it is for water ballast as previously mentioned. Incidentally, I almost bought the U-505 DVD the other day, but it was in widescreen format, which I don't like.

Great POV and postwork! Excellent image!

I know this critter! It's a great image with wonderful postwork. I've always been strangely fascinated by submarines...in so many ways they're like spaceships, albeit somewhat primitive ones with little to do with the Star Trek's Enterprise, and yet I see similarities...enclosed environments intended as home to a tightly orchestrated team of individuals. I love the sense of color. And as always, great work.

I believe the hole is rather like a pitot tube. It works with water, though, instead of air, which is why it needs to be so big. LOL! Great use of filters on this! I absolutely LOVE the results you get with this stuff.

The things some people know!! Great work on this one!!

to fill the ballast tanks? cool post work and pov
nikolais
guess it must be an opening to speed up a dive while on the move... not for breathing anyway. cool work with filters, Bill!
