Description

While shooting some of the fabulous Fall colors today, we came across this. It is in a tree and the wind was whipping it around quite a bit so getting a decent shot was rather difficult. Maybe when the wind calms I can get a better shot. The outside of it is quite beautiful. Thanks for Looking, Ken

Thanks for your comments! After doing some research I have come to believe that this nest has been damaged by being flailed in the strong winds of the last couple of days. It should actually come down to a small hole with none of the larva chambers showing. You can even see the some of the chambers have been dented, which I'm sure would never happen inside a complete nest. Anyway, if we get a hard freeze before too long I'm going to try to collect this nest. Then I could get some much better shots of it.

I'm dancin'... :-) I knew you had to put this up. The pov is spectacular and whether it should have an opening like this on the bottom or not, I'm glad it doesn't because I really love seeing what the construction is all about. Yes, the outside is beautiful, but the inside is one of those things seldom seen. Stellar!
