Description

Arachnophobia. . . the fear of spiders. I have to admit, I am terrified of spiders. They are one of the creepiest insects out there. I know they serve a purpose, eating other insects, but they still give me the heebie jeebies. Walking into a web is just as bad as if the spider had gotten on me. I scream like a girl. LOL (which I am)

Poor spider he won't hurt you!!! I can feel for you though, I used to be terrified of frogs, then I saw a hypnotist & I now am cured & don't mind them at all!!!!! I would NEVER go near water in the summer!!!!

Eeewww. I can feel it crawling. It is not a phobia but I don't like them either. I can eat frog legs but I use a dust pan or piece of paper even to dispose of a dead spider.

I've found that photographing them and learning about them helps. The one thing that still bothers me is a bee. Your spider looks to be some type of crab spider.

No matter how big or small, I'm with you, Linda. They give me the heebie jeebies. Just talking about them makes my skin crawl. I wouldn't dare get close enough to take a picture...even with a zoom. Well focused pic (sorry...i can't think of anything good to say about the subject, except maybe...Happy Halloween?)

Oh this is an excellent shot, but have to say I am not happy around spiders either, and like you, hate it if I walk into a web. Many years ago when I was young and fit we bred dogs and we had kennels (only for the dogs to sleep in at night Ha ha), and the spiders loved to hang their webs around the doors. Once I brushed into a web and hadn't realised but a large spider was in my hair. Later that morning and sitting at the table eating lunch I felt something tickle near my ear, and horror of horrors it was the fat spider I screamed like I have never screamed before and especially as I felt it squelch as my finger squashed it near my ear - sounds scary just like Halloween doesn't it? Oh and I can vouch for Barbara (jendellas) and her fear of frogs it was megga, but she is now cured thank goodness. Thanks for your support of my latest work, much appreciated, it is really good to be back, hugs Jane xx

Spiders are not insects. They have eight legs. Insects have six legs. Insects and spides belong to the same kindom, the crustacians. These creatures all have exoskeletal structures. People often refer to any small crawly thing as an insect. Know that spiders, though eaters of insects, are not insects. They are arachnids. Nice shot. This spider is harmless as are most spiders. They are free bleeders. Very fragile are they. Spiders cannot see well, even though they have eight eyes. They are afraid of everything and have one of the most well developed tactile senses of all animals.

Richard, thanks for the info. my science teacher would have really rung me out on this one. I knew it was an arachnid, I guess I call all small creep things insects. LOL . . . school was such a long time ago. . . :D

haha! This arachnophobia reminds me of Harry Potter character Ron Weasley... This spider is quite big... I hope it doesn't get as big as aragog!!! LOL! I must admit that you did a great work in taking this spider's picture when you are so much afraid of them.... no sign of a movement of your hands... beautiful shot!

Cool shot!! Have you ever wondered what the spider was thinking when you took this...giggle! I don't mind spiders, in fact if I find them alive in my house,I catch them in a container and toss them outside in the bushes. I can't kill bugs...I just don't have it in me. Yep, good reasons why they are here. As a child my Father nicknamed me Bug. =)
