Description
If you’ve ever lived in or traveled through the South you know what kudzu is. You’ve seen it blanket entire fields, consume barns and other structures, climb telephone poles and extend along the lines, and create a horizon that on one hand looks like a green velvet blanket while on the other appears as though some alien being has taken over the earth. Not unlike the blob.
Here in Georgia it is a constant battle to keep it cut back and under control. This is an area down the street from where I live.

I have read descriptions, seen botanical images, heard tales ... but I've never actually SEEN kudzu taking something over. I'm glad you've posted this! To my northern eye, this is exotic and fascinating. The shapes that have been created in the trees look fantastic and otherworldly ... like a castle ... like a Dr. Seuss drawing. Excellent image!

Beautiful shot of a vegetative monster! Kudzu is a spreader and a survivor. But, can't help seeing the beauty of it too, pest or not.

great picture!!! I researched in the www after this plant. It was perfectly unknown to me. It is very “dangerous”, as I could read. It is responsible for high ozone values. Why isn't this plant destroyed???

What wonderful shapes! This is entirely new to me.

Great image Rob and it does look very lush and pretty BUT everyone has to understand that if it is not cut away, all the plants, bushes and trees under this green umbrella of leaves, WILL DIE. Once the tree dies then it falls over. I've seen it happen to 30 foot palm trees. Dana

Great shot. Down in Memphis and mostly in Mississippi kudzu has pretty much taken over some parts of the terrian. I've been meaning to but haven't yet taken a picture of this pesky vegetation. I heard they are edible? Now, I'd like to try that!
