Description

Thank you for your comments on my last work! I'm still working with the series of "Oni". (Please see my previous image.) I've made a human version character before he turns into Oni. I made a simple story for him. It's hard to tell without his name,so I named him. His name is "信(Takanobu)". Each Chinese character(Kanji) has meaning itself. "" means dutiful, faithful. "信" means believe, belief, faith. The sory is like this...... He was a Samurai works under a lord who rules big area in Sengoku period. He was a honest man and devoted himself to his master. Takanobu had a friend grown up together in the castle town. His friend was also bright, shrewd man worked hard for their master, too. Though they were young, they were brilliant and very useful. So their master was fond of them and looked after two young Samurai. The relationship between Takanobu and his friend was really good, so Takanobu never thought that his friend works as a spy for the hostile country. One day the enemy entered Takanobu's country secretly. With the guide of the spy, they tried to invade the castle. Takanobu found the enemy is entering the castle and informed his master immediately, then fought against them. Getting the news from Takanobu, soldiers in the castle started fighting with him and fought back the enemy. The enemy left the castle, but Takanobu was captured by them, taken away to their country. The lord of the hostile country found that Takanobu is a talented man, then forced him to be a new spy. But he never agreed with it. Then the lord ordered his retainer to torture him and get some informations. While he was tortured he kept silence and never opened his mouth. Takanobu was wounded on all of the body, but he escaped from the jail somehow, then went back to his country. As soon as he entered the castle, he was caught by the soldiers. He didn't know that his friend told a lie to their master that Takanobu was working as a spy of the hostile country. (His friend was afraid being found that he was a real spy.) After he was jailed again, he found his friend betrayed him. Takanobu was wounded not only body but mind, then he told his master that he will prove his innocence by killing himself. But it was not accepted. After few days, he was executed in front of his master and his friend. He died in the mortification. After he died, his soul couldn't rest in peace. Then he has reborn as a creature not human being. That's why he turned into "Oni". I don't know if he is going to revenge, but I'm sure he will live with sorrow and bitterness holding a grudge. Thank for looking and reading...I really appreciate! Have a nice weekend!

Thank you for all your comments!! To redeem Oni...? Oh, it's hard to explain in Enlish...but I'll try. In some stories, when they had avenged themself or they had achieved long-cherished desire, they would rest in peace(go to heaven). For example, taking revenge, meeting lost girl/boy friend or childlen, telling someone important thing that they wanted to say before dying. In another story, when they realize their wishes, the horns on their head fall down then turn back into human being. In some romantic stories, it happens that Oni and human being fall in love. Since they are the imaginary creature,we can make a lot of different stories with them. They are fearful, mystic and attractive...loved by many people in my country. Actually, the existence of Oni is based on the thought of Buddhism.

Enchantingly crafted into a delicious treat for the eyes. You have a very tender touch upon your characters which lends them a distinctive quality.  There is a refined finish to your work that is appealing to the senses in a subtle manner. Your colors within this image are also enchanting .. they shine as if they were illuminated from within.  The influences of animation which you attribute as inspiration, can be recognized but your personal style is the dominant force in your craft. Very enjoyable! Terry
