Description

This is a Juvenile White Ibis, taken last week, at the Wakodahatchee Wetlands, in Palm Beach County, Florida. I'm going to guess about 10 months old and s/he will molt these dark feathers, over the next 6 to 8 months and will be completely white feathered. They are about 25 inches long (64cm) and 38 inches (97cm) wing tip to wing tip. Thanks for stopping by, taking a peak and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

When people tell me how big an animal is, I always imagine it in my house, because that's the only way I can get the scale right. That's a big bird! Excellent capture!

I got to see these in great numbers and close up while I was at the manatee rehab center in Florida. I love their great character for such a small bird. This is a great shot.

Great capture Dana. I've read little sketches about an "Ibis" in childrens' books (3 grandsons)...you know the kind of Little Golden Books that show animals and emphasize each letter of the alphabet. But this is the first real photo I've seen.
