I'm trying to get the hand on top to bend correctly, but it's not working right...can anybody help?

Like in real life, start at the hips, then chest, then shoulder, then arm, the wrist... avoid "twisting" as much as possible, but you will need to "twist" - just very little.... take your own body and put it in that possition (that's what I do) see what it does, but ballance is ALWAYS FROM THE HIPS, so you have to start at the hips or your balance will be off creating problems with like the end point which in this case is your hand.

put the hand or arm in the cross, looking this way nobody will see that its in the cross and your arm or hand will fit looking this way.

Yep looking good. You bended the arm for more movement of the hand. Looks better than first image. Well done. But just lower the fingers to touch the cross. Hugs :-)
