Description

What is it? An Advanced-Rumley steam tractor built sometime between 1912 and 1921. Before the gasoline engine and pneumatic farm tires you could have ploughed, harvested, etc. using steam. Must see and hear: Steam tractor moving a house (42 second video) Please ZOOM on the collage...much better detail. Bill:) P.S. What do you think the chains are for going to the front axel, under the boiler?

I remember as a child being taken for a ride on a similar type of engine and being really frustrated at how slow it was going!

Fascinating...beautiful. Great lighting, and I'm particularly taken by the way this beauty reminds me of a cannon with a smokestack. Fantastic. I like the touch of the windmill in the distance as well...it presents a wonderful rural mood, but it's not sentimental. I like that quite a lot.

Bill, Great shots of this old steamer. Those chains pull the front axle to the left and right for stearing whilst the engine is being being driven. The chains wind around a drum at the base of the boiler, operated by a worm and wormscrew mechanism turned by the drivers steering wheel. It would take several turns of the wheel to get this beast to turn a corner!

Fine views of this old farm puffer. You never know, steam might be back in America's future farm needs.
