Description

From out of the darkness it came. Its pale visage like a full moon on a foggy night. Indistinct and undefined. Then as it came closer I could see that it was a man, or rather, what was left of a man. I could see that the creature was covered in filth and its worm eaten clothes barely clung to its dessicated form. The creature shuffled forward, shifting its weight from foot to foot in an obscene parody of human movement. It seemed not to notice me as I was still some distance off from it, that, and the creatures tendency to carry its head at an angle that put me in the mind of a man I once saw cut down from a giblet, his neck twisted and broken from the noose. The creature made no sound but was preceded by an invisible wave of sickly stench, like sour milk and urine, that upon reaching my nostrils, so filled my being with revulsion I retched and nearly disgorged my evenings meal. At the sound of my distress the creature suddenly stopped, swiveled its head upward and stared into the gloom. I could now plainly see its decayed visage and the sight filled me with horror. Its features were shriveled and distorted. Various wounds wept a mixture of blood and pus. Its teeth were stained yellow and jaggedly broken like so many rows of decrepit tombstones. One of the creatures eyes was glazed over with a milky caul, like eye of a dead fish. The other socket was empty save for a dark, wet void and an issuance of a red-black ooze the composition of which I had no desire to know. It's milky dead eye came to rest on my location and for a moment my eyes and its locked. Then the creature released a unholy screeching howl such as I have always imagined the dammed in hell must surely make. In the next instance the fiend lunged forward towards me reaching out with its dirt clotted hands. I shrieked in mortal terror and dashed my way through the thickets and briars back towards the estate, pursued the entire time by the hideous apparition and its unearth moan! A little gothic prose to accompany a gruesome fiend. hand painted for practice.
