Very cool, it looks like some kind of inquisition with the three important looking pawns behind the desk. As if to say "how dare you challenge the decision of the gallery?"

EEHH! Not since the blue oriental city. :-/ HEHE! I SO luve this image Koosie :-))) Is that the Judges? The 3 in black? and is that little brown you standing there an get judged. If it is about the awesome tree on the wall, you can raise your head and be proud...just as much as of this cool scene. :-)

Oh no! Not since the giraffe in June! I must get busy, or Helle will have my hide. :P This is a wonderful scene, and so easy to identify with. Those inner judges, speaking to us about our art! very stern Excellent concept, and so well done!

Wonderful scene! the judges three are those within who tell us that we shouldn't do it because we can't match the others, how dare we presume to even think....

I'm not sure to understand the whole picture. Mother and father waiting for their child in front of 3 judges?

what a poor critter, koosie, but i can relate very good to this kind of situation, but you put it together with a fine portion of humor again as so often. and while it has some fun i must say it is also a bit creepy, the scene reminds me a bit of the ambiguity to find in some hitchcock movies :)))) long live the pawns :))

I'm not going to pretend full understanding of this creation, but I like its symbolic simplicity. Great idea!

you, kindly, made me aware of the painting this referred to, and it's always great to see an artist play with an old work. But this is you through & through; and I agree with Martin that it's a litttttttle creepy, lol, because we've all been there, whether as artists, students, or even in families. (In-laws, etc.) Nice choice of black for the judges, medieval & creepy! And the table-cloth folds, on corners, are more of your detail that I just love, as is the single candle, a nice medieval touch. As far as I'm concerned, this is pared-down terror, human, yes, but still scary! And the viewer in the back---who may not have a clue what's going on---is a nice touch of counterpoint. (You gotta have him/her in this scene, it is a gallery after all.) Love the couple too, one with a hat & the other with that olive-green skirt. And those are your works on the wall, right? Well the Magritte is the perfect 'capper' to the piece, because it's playful but also surreal & slightly menacing. And, more of your fine blank walls in two tones, and fine varied tones throughout. Your angles in scenes like this show your native design sense--again, it would make a good photograph. Boy you do this well! Fine work once more Koosie...

This is quite splendid work! It's sharp, crisp, clean...and truly, purely brilliant! I love your Pawn Series and this is such a wonderful surprise for me as I'm only just now seeing it. WOW! These guys and gals have such character! This is an immediate favorite! Wonderful work!
