Description

No event, other than the two World Wars, has had a greater effect on the morale, economic and the social life of Australians than the Great Depression of the early 1930's. The Building of the magnificent IOOF Manchester Unity Building inspired and convinced Melbournians that the building slump caused by the Depression was almost over. It is still one of Melbourne's most stylish architectural icons.

Kollosale Aufnahme! Gibt eine tollen Hintergrund! Wieviel Menschen sich wohl hinter dieser Fassade aufhalten? Sehr gute Szene.

Efron....this beautiful building is protected by The National Trust....non-constructive comments such as this add nothing positive to this site, don't help me improve my photographic techniques...and basically are waste of time IMHO.

Those were hard times for so many people. It's wonderful that a building was able to help restore confidence so badly needed. You already know how I love your POV's!!

I've looked it up on the web, 'cause I wanted to see more. What a fabulous building! The few interior shots I was able to find make me drool to see more of the deco details inside. Wow!

I always enjoy your big, tilting Melbourne building shots. Good info too.

A great looking shot... Really! Fine looking 'older' architecture'... You can just see the people leaping off... as it all becomes too much in the depression! Rob
