Description

After going over 2 massive waterfalls the Yellowstone river winds it's way through the cavern that it continues to carve. This was one of the most breathtaking views I could find. Thanks for any comments and past faves. Much appreciated. Jodie Hayden Valley ~ thumb_1968813.jpg

I didn't know there was a Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I thought all there was were geysers, and that was it. It is utterly cool how the canyon, with its own white cliffs of Dover, snakes along through the terrain, Jodes! I like the series of hills and mountains stratify into the distance.

I don't think I had realized how "yellow" the Yellowstone River really is. Great capture. The landscape here is spectacular. You had just the right POV.

catching up on images I didn't comment on (though I'm sure I discussed this elsewhere), I remember when you posted this. The view is epic (as some have called it), and the light & shade, the undulating clouds atop with their shade upon the land (a beautiful sky capture), the dissolving blues & blue greens & grays of the background mountains---wholly succumbing to atmosphere---the beautiful yellow of the valley & river, and your typically 'plastic' ie touchable surfaces make this not just epic but richly natural and beautiful. The proportion of sky to land feels perfect, as do the background mountains to canyon. And while this picture would be stunning wall size, the size here is just right for web presentation (full-view, that is). An almost Ansel Adams-ish vision in spots, though Adams used heavy darkroom work & you, I know, do nearly everything in the camera. A sweeping photographic image, and quite beautiful to boot. It should have pages of comments & recognition, it's a towering photo all around.
