Description

Photo by Alex Alex had went to a zoo yesterday and sent me pictures to share. The scarlet ibis (Scarlet Ibis), also called grunt, grunt red, red heron, cider or coyote, is a species of bird of the family Threskiornithidae native to South America, is the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago and figures prominently in his coat of arms. (from Wikipedia) In Native American culture Bird Spirit Animals assist in matters of higher knowledge. They are symbols of strength, freedom and unity of fellow creatures. The Ibis is connected to the Egyptian gods/goddesses and the moon. The ibis symbolizes wisdom and the ability to work magick. A single-mindedness bordering on narrow-mindedness, getting rid of pests, and perhaps a need to eat more shellfish. If interested in learning more about animal spirits you can go to http://www.spiritwalkministry.com/spirit_guides Thanks for your visit and for previous comments and favs! Thanks also for all the love and prayers sent for me, I truly appreciate every one! For those wondering why Mark has not commented on the image I made for him, he is unable to at this time but wrote to me personally to thank me.

This really is one amazing capture Alex got Lynn and I'm so thrilled you shared it with us. Your background on the Scarlet Ibis really added so much to this and brought it to life for me. Keeping Mark in my thoughts and prayers.

Whether it's a South American Scarlet Ibis, or the whiter species known in Egypt, I always associate Ibises with the ancient Egyptian god Thoth (pronounced T'hot) and well...that figures! He is the invented writing and so what writer wouldn't feel kinship with him...besides, He was often depicted in humanoid form with an ibis head and a rockin' hairdo. You gotta love that! I love this image too! It's so crisp and it actually captures some x-factor essence of the bird. From the angle, his facial expression is quite nice...which is often a difficult thing to notice since birds have inflexible beaks and so you can only look at a limited part of the face in order to see any expression at all! What a marvelous shot and I'm glad you posted it for Alex. Great information too! I love a great image with extra stuff to read/learn. This rocks!
