Description
This depicts the scene from Tokien's The Silmarillion shortly before Melian's departure from Middle-earth, back to the Blessed Realm. Her daughter, Luthien, the most beautiful of any being ever born, has become mortal and her husband Thingol, king of the Sindarin Elves, has been slain by the Dwarves. Her foresight sees that her kingdom of Doriath will soon crumble. I created this image for a contest at the DAZ forums.

Lovely work.... her hair is of course the central feature and you did amazing job of bringing life to such a mass of dark hair. Not the easiest thing to do even with the glossy node.

She is absolutely exquisite and I think my favorite out of your wonderful gallery. It seemed like no story in the Sil had a happy ending, LOL...and Melian is a good example. Like Elrond, she had to bear the grief of her beloved daughter taking a mortal as a husband. I know she was the maia who put the protective girdle around the hidden city of Gondolin. I really need to re-read the Sil!!!! Thanks for sharing this beauty with us!!
