Description
When the cold wind
Test my metal
Chills me to the bone
When all my friends
That I grew up with
Leave me
When the devil himself
Invites me to the dance
When the grim reaper
Puts his foot on my throat
And reaches for my soul
I will fight
I will fight until there is nothing left in me
Until the world comes to an end
Until I am the only one left
And I will win
Yesterday I was out taking pictures and I saw this tree with only one leaf on the entire tree and it was right at the very top of the tree. it was really cool and I knew there had to be a poem in it somewhere. I hope you like it. Randy

I like, I like! (You know, two likes make a love!) It has a wonderful cadence. Makes me want to read it aloud. Which I did. I love poems that make me want to hear them spoken. I recently bought a book of poems, called "Essential Pleasures" ed. by Robert Pinsky which I heard about on NPR. It focuses on poems that "sound marvelous in any reader's actual or imagined voice." If I were making my own such collection, this one would be right in there.

I can see where you got the inspiration for this poem It does seem like that one leaf is fighting to hang on... And is not drooping down like some leaves do but reaching for the sky Like saying lift me up Lord.... I did go back and read it out loud...........has great flow....and wonderful imagery........
