.........errr shoes! I found this strange site at the end of an old city alley. It really facinated me at the time!

If this were Los Angeles the shoes would be a way for a gang to mark it's territory. Hopefully this has a more benign meaning.

Very interesting. Years ago when the US Army was comprised of mostly conscripted soldiers, as a soldier drew close to the end of his term of service, he's do this with a pair of boots as a sign that he was a "short-timer" and proud of it. What could this mean down your way?

In Prague and in Chicago, I saw shoes hanging from various places such as wires telephone wires and such, usually indicating that the wearers of the shoes were dead. Think of that makes this a particularly haunting photograph, and it's so incredilby rich in detail, mood, and color that I'm captivated by every element of this. I wonder to whom these shoes belonged, and if their placement here is tragic. Hopefully not.
