Description

This was my entry in the Halloween contest. I found the whole experience to be an awesome exercise, both challenging and rewarding. The challenging part was to work within the constraints of the contest rules in particular the dimensions. I wanted to show detail of the main character, and still tell the story I was attempting to tell. I believe I failed some on that latter part, but at the same time was a learning experience about using available space. As much as possible I wanted to do as much in this scene from scratch as I could. I began not knowing how to do much of that, so the learning and satisfaction of making it happen was very rewarding to me. In particular doing the pumpkin, the porch light, and the autumn leaves were a lot of fun. Also the textures, I did most from scratch with the exception of the hair and the characters clothing, which in hind sight I wish I had done those as well, but think I got a bit lazy. With the exception of the characters, clothing, and hair everything was modeled in C4D. I then used Interposer Pro to place the characters. IPP is an awesome product because its just like using Poser within C4D. I spent a good two weeks plus working on the image, render time took about six hours on a dual core 64 bit machine, which I have since upgraded, cause there was more than one render attempt to get to one I liked lol. Again doing the contest was an awesome experience for me. I have an intense passion for doing digital art. My skills are still in the novice range but learning and improving my skills gives fuel to that passion. Thanks for viewing.
