Description

With a bit of imagination, this lamp could easily be transformed into a 'Highwayman's Coffin'! Ok now granted it would have to be for a reeeeeely short highwayman, but you get the idea. For anyone who isn't familiar with a 'Highwayman's Coffin', it was basically a cage made of steel that was made the same basic shape as the condemned scallywag. The person was locked inside it, then the cage was hung in a prominent part of town so everyone could watch the person slowly die from starvation, exposure etc, with their bones finally falling to the ground through the gaps in the bars. This is my understanding of how they worked anyway! It also makes a nice street lamp! Please zoom for more detail.

Humans. We're such violent creatures. We always come up with all sorts of ways to torture and kill...but on the flipside of that, we create such beautiful art and express such philosphical depth and grace (well, some of us anyway.) Gorgeous image. I love the geometric shape of this, and being a science fiction nerd, I actually see this as reminiscent of a coffin used for internment in deep space, only without reaction thrusters to keep it from becoming a navigational hazard. Wonderful work.
