Description
State of progress so far. This one's turning out tougher than I thought. Anyway, what I would like to know is are the inner gear doors fixed or mobile?
The reference photos I have, have them with a cutaway for the wheel but I don't know if they are actually part of the fuselage paneling or not.
Bear in mind that this is an A8 which had a large bombrack slung underneath, the sway braces of which look as though they would interfere with any movement. Don't want to waste time cutting them out if they do nothing.
Sorry about the quality, its been a long day. Thanks in advance for any info.....

Check with Bazze at colacola dot se...he models planes (may have one of these done already, if you need a comparison). Many are free... great modeling.

beautiffuly done so far, love the engine detail... as for your inquiry, check out this link: http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/fw190landinggear_1.htm. It's a plastic modeler site but the article is specifically on the Fw190 landing gear, it might help, good luck. I am looking forward to another of your excellent creations, I've purchassed a few of your models, & love the fact that you add PS files that allow us to personalise the models, thx!

Good question! Bazze hasn't done one to my knowledge. Some pictures (German WWII) clearly show doors and some don't. (I know big help) Another instance, the National archives have a photo of a Tau with doors and one of an A8 without. WWW/Cybermodeler has numerous good closeups. I modeled the 190 (A and D) with them up and down depending on which position the gear was in but my models are clean, no racks) If they interfer with your ETC rack, then they must not belong there!!!!! :) My guess is that the doors could be removed as needed. Nice model!

Looks great.. the inner gear doors were fitted to earlier FW190A series only (as far as the A-6, and often removed in service). The doors opened, then closed again during operation of the U/C.. so for your A8 you will need to cut out that area in your model. The A-8 was the fighter verion and the rack you are refering to is for a drop tank, which what those sway braces that look like towel racks are for. The F-8 and G-8 were the fighter bomber and ground attack versions respectively.. with slightly different wing armement fits. Sorry for the waffle, and I have some Alan Bentley drawings around here somewhere.. which cover all the BMW engined series.. so if you need specific info, just PM me.

Thanks everyone. From the links you've given me it looks as though the inner gear flaps are just panels and static on this version so I'll do them as such for the moment.
