Description

Originally made and submitted for the Daz3d October 7th Annual PC celebration contest. Results are in and nope, non-winner as usual. Its been a long while since I last uploaded anything, though I assure you, I've got almost a week's worth to upload daily now. I do like music and decided to do a self named rock group. Not only that, but pioneer a new carrara shader technique, not found anywheres else. So stay tuned... Literally! Other items used: She-Freak for V4 Darcy for V4 Courageous for V4 w/ unimesh fits Hard Core for M4 Wild'n'Messy for V3 Top and skirt by Mirabilis Steampunk Cowboy for M4/H4 M4 Palenque Ruins FabFour drums & hoffner guitar from 3dpmr, custom drum logo by me Speakers & mc stand - unknown Music listened to: Poets of the Fall - Lift" Custom prep work and shaders by me: - new shirt transmap for Courageous - radical multi-layered skin shader for v4, combining Darcy skin texture, XCC-990 body plating and transmap, and 2 custom made transmaps for the skin layer and layer blend mixer to achieve a synthetic skin cutaway revealing a cyber endoskeleton underneath. - Custom multi-layered fishnet shader, custom metal skin on he-bot, custom transmap for Courageous, drum band logo, custom dirty old coat - multi layered shader w/ snow, snow covering effect ontop of Pal ruins The idea here is, the whole basis of this project with the following renders below featuring my pioneered new style. I had bought XCC990 the moment it debuted. Then all I had to wait for was She-Freak4 to arrive. The XCC990 provides some interesting options however it also imposes some limitations. The endo-plating mats work great on their own with the proper shader setup. The skin/endo clean cutaway mat - the skin is generic for starters, nor can sub-surface scattering or metalic reflection be used on the hybrid cutaway mat. You can't use one shader property without interfering with the other half of the mat. My pioneered technique with the use of 2 new transmaps produces the best of both worlds, allowing for the useage of any Generation4 skin set (male or female), as well as allowing the skin to appear cut-away cleaning and beveled to reveal the metal beneath, and the endoskeleton inside. It is also similar in effect to Daz Studio's Image Layer editor plugin, but again, taking advantage of carrara's shaders. This project lays the groundwork for future renders with additional custom transmap modifications for a truly battlescarred in appearance figure. The other idea behind the project replaces the normal method and need to render 2 seperate images, and erasor parts of the top layer for the endoskeleton to show through. Theres also the advantage of natural skin on metal surface reflections that would be hard to replicate via postwork. And second last, but not least, I owe a note, nod, and mention to Mark Bremmer, having been inspired by his work, and what he can put through and accomplish within Carrara if one really sets their mind to it; and doing so without postwork. If anyone's seen his gallery, you'd understand that. Hence the strength, motivation and perseverance his gallery gave me to push on through and not give up in tackling the XCC-990 Fembot bybrid v4 skin + endoskeletal plating. Its a template I can now use anytime with any skin texture, on any Gen4 figure. Its my personal and proudest accomplishment sofar. No postwork save for signature. Your comments, opinions and critique are always welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking (and reading). Next picture will be a close-up photo of the group.

I'm not sure Mayan ruins are a typical venue for "heavy metal" bands, but amazing image. ;)

Nice work on the materials, the cyborgs look great. I'm with Zaarin on the venue, perhaps it's heavy metal does Mother Nature thing. The actual lighting seems to contradict the background image, but it's still a render that rocks!

Thanks all for the feedback sofar! :) @ Zaarin, Blackstone61 - thanks! @ Biffowitz - Hmm, all I can say is theres just the 1 sunlight angled down and slightly to the left for the source of the light and shadow. Sky and Terrain done in Carrara. @ SeaView123 - Thats an excellent song too! @ fullquive - Thanks. Yeah, Courageous and the bikini are the only 2 out of 3 clothing sets currently available at Daz to my knowledge for the new She-Freak4. I made my own transmap top for her. One can only make so many various trans-maps for Courageous until you need new clothing period. @ NoelCan - i'll take your word for it about the PinkFlyod dvd, as I don't have it. For what it's worth, it feels great to be back. Now I got some commenting to catch up on :) I nabbed the Palenque set way back, but never got around to making use of it. Next image upload will be tonight just after midnight (7 1/2hrs from now), and it will be the group closeup shot.
