Description

Please view full screen! This is for my most gracious friend Misthemes (Maud) who makes the most delightful light Wiccan images. Normally, as you know I love the dark side, but Maud's works are just so charming they can melt any dark heart. Recently Misthemes had a bit of shabby treatment by RMP testers and she was on my mind over the several days it took to create this image. I hope better fortune shines on you now my dear. I love all her images but check out "Open the portal" to see some of her gorgeous texture work - available in RMP. Three seperate layer renders and some 24 hours of production work and it's done! Ishtar! Ninshubar! Oh, it is so good to see my two most beautiful and beloved Granddaughters again. Come up here and let me hug you. You look no worse for your time in the darklands, Ishtar. Is all well with you now? Yes, dear Grandfather I am well. Thanks to you, Ninshubar, and your beloved, brave Isimud I am free of Ereshkigal. And free from your lousy lout of a husband too I hear! I never did like Tammuz. In a way it is too bad that you did not impale him when you had the chance. But oh well, we only have to deal with the bastard a few months of the year and you and Ereshkigal have control of him now. He'll be much more careful where he plants his seeds from now on! Hah! Yes indeed, we now have firm control of the seasons and I am free to focus more on love and less on war. And for that dear Grandfather, and for freeing me, Ninshubar and I have come to pay you a visit and to give you our respects. For you are the wisest of the wise of all the Gods. You two are always welcome in my home, my dear, for I love you both beyond all worlds. You two are the most brave and honorable Goddesses in Sumer. And you Ishtar, or Innana, as your mother called you, you are now the most powerful Goddess in all of Mesopotamia. I could not leave you to rot in Ereshkigal's grasp ... although I do hope you have learned your lesson and will now respect more the rules and laws of being a Goddess. Yes Grandfather I have learned this hard lesson. And that is another reason why I have come to Eridu. When I was a young girl you gave me a stone tablet with the rules of being the Goddess of Love and War. You told me then it was from a library of civilization that you had. I would like to study this library if I may. I want to learn how to be a complete Goddess and to teach my people of Uruk how to be more fruitful citizens, as are your people of Eridu. Ishtar, this is all very good and we will talk about this more later. But now I want to introduce you to your cousin Alora. She is the daughter of my daughter Ninmu, Goddess of the Marshlands and the city of Lagash. She has arrived but a few days ago and brings disturbing and terrible news. I am sorry to say that your time as Goddess of War may not yet be at an end. Alora? I have not yet met you, though I know of your mother. I hope she is well, but what brings you to visit Grandfather? And what is this of war? Sargon my lady. Sargon of Akkad has invaded the Sumerian cities along the Tigris. Ten moons ago he defeated the army of Lagash. He killed my father in battle and destroyed my mother's water temple. She has disappeared; I know not where she is. My mother always told me if there was ever terrible trouble in Lagash that I should escape to Grandfather Enki's home, for he would always know what to do. So now I am here. Sargon! Sargon the Conqueror? I have watched this man. He has always been a threat to the peaceful cities of Sumer. This will not stand. No mere mortal destroys the temples of the Gods of Sumer and does not answer to Ishtar for it! Previous Ishtar

Fabulous scene..love it how you have stuffed in so many characters in this scene..all the poppets are playing their own part in the story and you gave them all such an incredible and realistic pose...Great job on that...love it how you always give your scenes that goldish warm glow....really beautiful atmosphere...i can feel the happiness that comes from this reunion.... Beautiful frame work created in photoshop as for the lighting and sharpness too...the only thing that is a bit distracting in this scene is the position of where you placed the dragon...but that is my opinion...Fine and gorgeous piece of artwork! Hugs Val.

But please people...going to war is not answer. I hope those ancient guys are smarter than people nowadays :)Hehehehe!! Again I would little bit complain about flatness of your scene. I think it's the focal lenght that is causing it. For a wide shot like this it shouldn't be more than 35 mm (maybe). Or then it's just my stupid head that is causing it, so don't worry about it Roxy. Put posing is great and everything else in this scene so it's just minor detail, the flatness. So...we will see if there's going to be war against this Sargon fellow...I hope they will find peaceful solution...but then again, maybe the drama will be lost then.

Dear Kimmo: Ah, now I understand what you are saying. Of couse, just like in photography big sweeping shots like this = wide angle lenses. Portraits and tight shots = long lenses. You have a very good eye for fine details to pick this out. You know it is probably because a month ago I switched to a 24" wide screen monitor that now allows me to to do these big open scenes. Before I was always stuck at 17" and rather square. So now it makes more sense to have to adjust focal length.. Thank you for this insightful observation. We shall see about war. Things can happen. Roxy

a wonderfully complex image - multiple images in renders is so hard to pull off effectively and your have certainly achieved it here. Well done

All I can do is add a few of my own humble words of praise to this already impressive avalanche. It's stunning to see how much you can pack into an image, and make it all cohesive and relevant. The technical details here are all excellent. The posing, the lighting, the expressions, the background details, are all superb. Looking at this image, one has the impression that it is a "still" from a motion picture. Combined with the narrative, it really tells a story and builds tension for the scenes to come. Brilliant work!
