Description

Gladiolus alatus ("Kalkoentjie" - small turkey). I have posted one before in 'Born to be wild', a spring flower at the Waylands Flower Reserve. This one is tame, nurtured in a nursery specialising in fynbos. Thanks for views and comments, Clive

What an unusual glad! I've never seen one with the "turkey" petal before. The detail on the stalk is fabulous, the flower is my favorite color, the dof is to die for, and the light is gorgeous.

The composition is just right...turkey is the main course for Thanksgiving here and that's approaching fast...two weeks or so. Add cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie and I am all set:)
