Description

I have always found it difficult to paint a rose, because it is (for me) hard to paint the deeper tones in the center of it and graduate? the tones to the edges. Well. This morning I just had to try an idea out, I have had for a while. I had a photo of a rose and changed it to negative, printed it out and painted it in the colors I saw on the print. I knew it would be more easy to do the opposit of what I use to do and it was. I scanned the painting to the computer and changed it to negative and and it became positive here it is. So the original here is the green one :-) Do I need to say I had fun? Thank you all for your kind comments to my previous post and special warm thanks to those, who added it to their favorites. :-)=) Have a great day. I refuse to talk weather today :-/ ANDREA! I have an eye on your AHA SHOT challenge :)

What an unusual process, but what a fabulous result! I am astonished at the steps you took to get here. And I'm totally impressed! You solved a big problem, and I would bet you learned things along the way. I would venture to guess that next time you try painting a rose, you won't have any trouble at all, having flipped the entire process upside down in order to do this. You probably made some very interesting brain connections that will help you in the future!

This is beautiful. It's always so much fun to try new things, or to try thinking in a new way in order to solve an artstic challenge. That's what I like about art. It's beautiful and serves a purpose, but it's always through art that we make connections and solve problems. The difference between art and "real life" is that in art, it's safe to experiment. In real life, there are too many other factors involved, so experimentation (especially if it fails) could have fatal results, but through art...we learn how to safely experiment and possibly even see "real life" in less rigid ways. I love that, and the way your process to get this gorgeous image is proof of that.
