My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Entryways used to be the most important part of a structure. They told visitors and passerbys what to expect from the occupant. I don't think anyone really thinks about that any more but if you stop to think about it for a moment, where does your first impression of where you are going first strike...when you look at the front door. This is amazing and shows great thought in how this building wished to welcome people to it.

The first thing that strike me is the red flowers on the landing! Wonderful image Tara - for all the reasons you mentioned - texture, colors, different levels... Bravo my friend! What's up with our Internet connections??? deep frown

And I love it all! I like the look of the intruiging door below the stairs, too.

I'm with Carin, it's the flowers that are the best touch here, and I love the archway and everything else about this entrance!

Most excellent of your Chicago portals so far. Doorways are of great interest and something that every region has in abundance. I have deferred walking around downtown Kansas City with my camera for several reasons...one of which is I haven't had a vision for an area of concentration...doorways could be it! Inspiring:)

very good shot - somewhat overwhelming, i wonder what the rest of the building looks like.

I thought I was tired of doors and then you go and come up with this. The serrated decoration around the arch really adds to the overall look. Wonderful arch, looks like it has seen a lot of wear. I also like the wrought iron and metal accents on the door. Beautifully composed and captured.

WOW!! Talk about elegant and adorned entry ways,....this is probably one of the most elegant I have ever seen. It almost seems to be wasted on the plain red brick. Perhaps it is the abode of a rather wealthy Hobbit!
Chipka
WOW. This is stunning! So many details and textures and everything! Quite simply, WOW! There's so much going on in here, but it's perfectly balanced in a way, and your POV really brings out the detials and the details OF the details. And yeah, even that ubiquitous Chicago iron stands out elegantly! You've got such a good eye for spotting stuff like this. And on a side note, I want that door!
