Description

Found this cute little fella in the backyard today. After it jumped down to the grass I had a nice photo session. Scudder's Bush Katydid Nymph (Scudderia). Plan to post one or two more in the coming days. Body length about 5mm. Thanks for looking. Check it out fullsize! -Bruce

WOW!! Such an amazing difference between this and an adult, I've seen many adult katydid's but never a young one. Sweet!

I agree with durleybeachbum on this one...it's a darling. Funny how people don't actually like insects, but most times, insects are nicer than people...and cuter too. What I like about katydid nymphs is that their heads are impressively big, and fairly long. I also love the colors here, as well as the clarity...those insect spikes are amazing. And yes, this is an adorable critter, the world is such a great place with them in it...we'd definitely lose something if they decided not to hang around.
